2nd World Gym to Open Doors in Houston
Houstons second World Gym is about to open. The 38,000 square foot property has been redone, it was a YMCA before developer JMK5 Holdings bought it. Customers can start getting pumped up at the end of the month in the 38,000 square foot facility. The gym, which will go up five floors, will include free weights with locker rooms and saunas, cycling classrooms, personal training, treadmills and CrossFit equipment.
Pinnacle Construction is the general contractor.
JMK5 Holdings purchased the property in 2018. The redevelopment was a challenge due to the age of the long-vacant building, circa 1950. The YMCA closed down in 2017 due to damage from a hurricane.
JMK5 owns and operates another World Gym franchise out of their Mainland City Centre development in Texas City. At 100,000 square feet, that location is the largest World Gym in the U.S.
