$2B Brookridge Redevelopment Starts After Years of Delays

Construction has finally started on the long-stalled $2 billion Brookridge redevelopment, nine years after the Overland Park project was proposed, reported the Kansas City Business Journal.

Curtin Property Cos. began infrastructure work on the site at Antioch Road and Interstate 435, said Grant Curtin, vice president and principal at the Overland Park-based developer. Kevin Sloan Studio + WDG and GBA will work with Curtin.

Plans called for approximately 4 million square feet of office, 2,000 apartments, a mix of restaurants and retail, two hotels, and more than 100 acres of green space.

The developer landed a $10 million Kansas Building a Stronger Economy (BASE) grant. Curtin Property received an $8 million grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation that reduced pay-as-you-go tax increment financing allocation for three tranches of office space, lowering the project’s maximum TIF to $151.6 million. The development will receive $46.5 million in district financing.
