Weston Urban has started work on a 16-story, 290-unit apartment building in San Antonio. The project is a partnership between Weston Urban and Bexar County’s public facilities corporation. The company has worked out a 75-year ground lease of the property from the agency. In exchange, Weston Urban has to offer at least 116 of the apartments at 80% area median income or lower.

Between the vacant Continental Hotel and Arana buildings, it will build the new apartments and 22,000 square feet of retail and office space.

Weston Urban will also renovate the Continental Hotel building and De La Garza House. Plans call for street-level retail and 28 residential units at the former hotel site. The Arana building will be reworked for office and retail. The De La Garza House — a Spanish colonial home from the 19th century located on the site — will be restored and turned over to the county upon completion.
