28-Story Modular MXU Development Planned in Oakland

Village Glen Oakland 2 LLC, a Bay Area-based affiliate of RAD Urban, is proposing a mixed-use development at 2044 Franklin Street in downtown Oakland’s CBD. The project would include two buildings: one having 28-floors with 314,687 square feet and 184 residential units, 5,000 square feet of retail space and 60,000 square feet of Class A office space; and the second a low-rise, 15,840-square-foot building is planned with five townhouse units and 3,950 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

2044 Franklin Street is envisioned as a sleek, contemporary-designed building featuring metal panel curtain walls and aluminum windows. Modular elements would be constructed off site, and assembled on the 0.59-acre building site to streamline the overall construction process.

Currently, the project is under going CEQA analysis for public feedback by the city. Construction is slated to begin in mid-2018. The existing site includes a two-story, 8,861 square foot brick and masonry building.
