22nd DAA Seeks Input on Long-Term Plan for Del Mar Fairgrounds

The 22nd District Agricultural Association, which operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds and two neighboring properties as an institution of the state of California, has launched a public outreach campaign to solicit input from local governments and county residents regarding the Fairgrounds’ future, according to City News Service.

Through the “Fairgrounds 2050” master-planning initiative, the 22nd DAA will hear from residents across San Diego County on what would be “the best and most sensible uses” for the association’s three properties. Along with the Fairgrounds, they include the Surf and Turf Recreation Center and the Del Mar Horsepark, and total 324 acres.

The outreach efforts will include “a statistically significant quantitative survey” of county residents’ opinions on the Fairgrounds activities and uses. The 22nd DAA will also form a technical council comprised of experts who will weigh in on technical aspects of the new plan for the association’s three properties.
