A 22K-SF Target Coming to Oak Park

Target Inc. is planning its first store in Oak Park, IL. But the Minneapolis-based retailer isn’t planning one of its super centers in this suburban Chicago location. Rather, what will open is a 22,000-square-foot space at the base of the 271-unit Elevate Oak Park. The new store is scheduled to open in October of next year.

The new store will be one of Target’s “flexible format” options currently operating in the Chicago area. The scaled-down stores are geared toward urban areas, with many people and minimal space. The retail giant already has four flexible format stores operational in the Chicago area, including one in the former Carson Pirie Scott department store on State Street in downtown Chicago.

Elevate Oak Park is being built at the corner of Lake and Maple Streets. Lennar Multifamily and Clark Street Real Estate are the developers.
