Houston’s 2100 Memorial Apartments Reopens Doors
The Houston Housing Authority has opened the doors so the first five residents can move into 2100 Memorial, the namesake of the senior living facility that was ruined by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Demolition of the old project began in the summer of 2021, and construction on the new five-story building started in May 2022.
$25 million of the $61.9 million to build the project was financed with federal Hurricane Harvey relief funds. The Houston Business Journal reports those who lived at 2100 Memorial before Harvey floodwaters damaged the former building in August 2017 got a right of first refusal to some of the 196 studio, one- and two-bedroom units. Twenty-five of the residents plan to return.
The units range from 502 to 982 square feet. There are 39 studios, 138 one-bedrooms and 20 two-bedrooms. One unit is a hospitality unit.
Block Cos. is the general contractor. Columbia Residential developed and manages the property.
