21 Acres Dedicated to Municipality Maintenance
The San Marcos (TX) City Council gave the go-ahead to acquire 21 acres at 2240 Clovis Barker Rd., just off Interstate 35. The land will be used to host a combined public services and community services maintenance facility that will eventually house approximately 200 city personnel.
The land cost for the city south of Austin is $2.5 million. The new facility will provide space for San Marcos’ electric, water, wastewater and drainage utility departments, as well as the city’s traffic and street divisions and park maintenance and fleet operations.
Assistant City Manager Steve Parker said construction would start within the next 18 months. The facility will take one year to build.
