$20M Condo Midrise Plans Scrapped

Despite plenty of interest from buyers, Al Ross Luxury Homes has scrapped plans for The Monroe, a 10-unit, $20 million luxury condominium community at 1034 Rochow St., near the Buffalo Bayou in Houston.

The project was halted because the developer indicated it wouldn’t receive the proper building permits from the city of Houston, unless it replaced a sewer line in front of the site. Six units had already sold, and the buyers were “understandably disappointed,” said Al Ross, the company’s founder.

The Monroe would have had condo units ranging from 3,400 to 7,000 square feet, with prices from $1.4 million-$1.6 million. The penthouse was priced at $3.8 million.
