$20M Approved for Continued San Pedro Creek Improvements

The Bexar County Commissioners Court approved $19.8 million to push ahead on the next two segments of the San Pedro Creek Improvements Project. The segment in question will involve a three-block stretch through downtown San Antonio, marking the 2.2-mile project’s most complex construction effort.

The funding will pay for design, demolition and construction from Houston to Nueva Streets. Approximately $12.9 million will go toward civil and utility work, including wall stabilization and underpinnings. Meanwhile, $4.2 million will pay for demolition on an already closed Dollar General store on Commerce Street. The remaining $2.7 million will pay for additional segment design.

A final design is due by May to contractor Sundt-Davila. The development is expected to be underway by the end of summer 2018.
