$200M Cannon Beach slated for McKinney

$200M Surf Park Slated for McKinney

The City of McKinney is pursuing an agreement with Cannon Beach for a $200 million multi-use development. Anticipated to break ground in 2025 at the northeast corner of Stacy Road and S.H. 121, the 35-acre project will feature a four-acre surf lagoon, a full-service resort-style hotel, and dining, entertainment, and business spaces.

At the heart of the development will be a resort-style hotel with a rooftop pool alongside a pristine sandy beach. The resort will feature lounge areas and cabanas with food service and will connect to the surf lagoon and a host of water-focused attractions, including cliff diving. The vision is to surround these attractions with uses like a skateboard park, movie theater, bowling alley, health club, indoor recreation facilities, and more.

The first phase, the actual wave-making lagoon, is anticipated to open in 2026.

Once opened, Cannon Beach is expected to create more than 700 jobs and attract 300,000 visitors annually.
