$200M Sculpture to Grace Hudson Yards

Related Cos. announced that a $200 million sculpture is being prepared for a plaza in Hudson Yards, the 28-acre mixed-use project on Manhattan’s west side. The piece is being designed by Thomas Heatherwick, whose high-profile projects include the Olympic Cauldron at the 2012 Games in London.

Stephen Ross, Related Cos.’ chairman, said the sculpture will “become to New York what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris.” Related Cos. and Oxford Properties Group are developing Hudson Yards, which will include more than 17 million square feet of commercial and residential space. Ross indicated the sculpture will likely remain under wraps until later this year.
