$200M MXU in Santa Ana Under City Review
San Diego-based Wermers Properties proposed 603-unit Elan mixed-use development in Santa Ana, CA is under review by the city’s planning commission. The site near Prentice Park at 1660 E. 1st St. would replace a vacant Elks Lodge with a pair of six-story buildings.
The $200-million project designed by TCA Architects is planned for a mix of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom floor plans, that would include a mix of live/work “shopkeeper” type units, in which merchants live above street-level businesses. There’s also 24,290 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and parking for 1,157 vehicles.
The mid-rise development would feature a contemporary architectural style, incorporating Mid-century modern elements executed in glass concrete, cement, and fiber cement siding resembling wood.
