200-Unit Affordable Housing Project Planned in North Seattle
Affordable housing developer Bellwether Housing and nonprofit Chief Seattle Club will partner on a 200-unit multifamily project in Seattle’s Licton Springs neighborhood.
Delivery for the project, called Thunderbird Nest, is scheduled for 2029. The total estimated construction cost is $74.5 million, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. The majority of the units would be two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments. The project is set to be built on vacant land purchased from North Seattle College.
The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges approved the sale of the site at 9250 College Way N. to Bellwether and Chief Seattle Club for $7.1 million in June 2024. Funding would be provided by the Seattle Office of Housing, King County Department of Community and Human Services and the Washington State Housing Trust Fund. Chief Seattle Club would provide on- and off-site services that are culturally responsive to Native American and Alaska Native communities.
