BP buys TA Travel Centers for $1.3B, 20 in Texas

20 Texas Travel Centers of America Acquired by BP

If you do much driving through Texas, it’s impossible to miss the Red and Blue T/A TravelCenter signs. There are 20 in Texas and 281 nationwide. Soon, you might see the green and yellow signs of BP. The company has acquired all of the TravelCenters of America (TA) stores for $1.3 billion.

Besides gas, the travel centers offer services such as truck maintenance, restaurants, travel stores, and parking, which account for 70% of the business’s profit margin. TA has more than 600 full-service and quick-service restaurants and nine proprietary brands, including Iron Skillet and Country Pride.

BP will provide options to expand and develop new mobility offers including electric vehicle (EV) charging, biofuels, renewable natural gas (RNG) and later, hydrogen, both for passenger vehicles and fleets.
