20-Story Charlotte High-Rise May Be on Way
A Charlotte apartment developer filed a plan with the City of Charlotte to build a 283-unit project at Metropolitan Avenue and South Kings Drive. Northwood Ravin has owned the property since 2020.
The Charlotte Business Journal reports the development is expected to include a parking deck and ground-floor retail. Renderings from Northwood Ravin’s website show a 20-story tower on top of the parking structure.
The 1.3-acre property is currently undeveloped green space behind the Metropolitan mixed-use complex.
Northwood bought the property from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.’s in October 2020 for $2.25 million. City Council approved Northwood’s request in April 2021 to rezone the property to allow for additional multifamily units on site.
Northwood’s other Charlotte multifamily developments include The Village at Commonwealth in Plaza Midwood, Alpha Mill II in Optimist Park, and Towerview Ballantyne in Ballantyne.
