$2 Billion Sherman Tech Plant Taking Shape
A public filing indicated that the first phase of Texas Instruments’ massive semiconductor manufacturing campus under construction in Sherman will have an estimated cost of $2.2 billion and cover more than 4.2 million square feet.
The scope of work consists of a large building with two semiconductor clean rooms, utilities, warehousing, material loading docks, garage parking, and an administration building and support buildings connected to the main fabrication facility. Page Southerland Page is the design firm..
The current phase of construction started in May, 2022 and is scheduled for completion by August 2024. The biggest of the facilities now underway by Texas Instruments is a 1,547,177-square-foot fabrication facility and support building, with a cleanroom, at an estimated cost of $1,739,985,765.
The Dallas Business Journal Reports that at full buildout, expected to take up to a decade, the Texas Instruments plant in Sherman is expected to be a $30 billion, four-factory semiconductor manufacturing campus. About 4,000 new jobs are set to be created with the TI expansion, generating billions of dollars to the Grayson County economy.
