$1B SoccerCity Plan Unveiled

New details emerged this week about SoccerCity, a more than $1-billion redevelopment proposed for the Qualcomm Stadium site in San Diego’s Mission Valley. The more than 230-acre project, as envisioned under the San Diego River Park, SoccerCity and Qualcomm Stadium Redevelopment Specific Plan, would include 2.4 million square feet of office space, 740,000 square feet of retail space, and 4,800 homes.

La Jolla, CA-based FS Investors is seeking to build three residential towers up to 26 stories, two hotels totaling 450 rooms, and nearly 1,300 student and low-income housing units. The sports facilities include a 32,000-seat Major League Soccer/San Diego State University football stadium, and 16 acres reserved for a new NFL stadium.

The project includes public soccer fields, a second trolley line and station and 55 acres of parks, all connected via landscaped promenades, plazas and bike paths.
