$16M SoFlo Arts Center To Break Ground
An art center, commissioned by the Linda Pace Foundation, is set to break ground in San Antonio’s SoFlo district. The red, 14,000-square-foot building will house hundreds of paintings, video works, sculptures and installations.
Sir David Adjaye of Adjaye Associates led design efforts for the $16-million facility known as Ruby City. The architect described the vision he created a decade ago with the late Pace.
“Like a city, the design offers an organic, heuristic encounter with the Foundation’s works, and my hope is that it will become a place where artists and the wider community can be inspired to realize their own dreams through a meaningful experience with contemporary art,” Adjaye said.
A public opening of the facility is planned for early 2019. Companies working on the project include Alamo Architects, Norton Company and Whiting-Turner.
