$160M New Caney Convention Reveals Open Date
New Caney’s new 210,000-square-foot convention center is slated to open in December.
The Houston Business Journal reports the convention center is part of the next phase of The Signorelli Co.’s Valley Ranch, which focuses on bringing new retail, commerce and entertainment into the 1,400-acre master-planned community. East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) is in charge of the project. The project was designed by HHCP Architects. Oak View Group has been hired to manage and operate EMCID’s convention center.
The venue will feature a 55,000-square-foot ballroom/exhibit hall, nearly 20,000 square feet of meeting space, approximately 25,000 square feet of pre-function and lobby space and about 11,000 square feet of outdoor courtyards.
EMCID estimates the convention center will generate nearly $1.73 billion in new spending over 30 years and $35.1 million in sales, hotel and venue taxes and 500 direct and indirect jobs.
EMCID is still working on getting a hotel partner, with a property set aside for an operator that would connect to the convention center.
