16-Story MXU Building Opens in Boston Seaport

WS Development celebrated a milestone with the opening of 400 Summer Street in Boston Seaport. The LEED Platinum-certified building, now home to Foundation Medicine, is the first highway air rights project completed in Boston since 1983 and the largest life sciences organization move since 2011, according to a release from WS Development.

Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects with Stantec and other partners, the 16-story building features 600,000 square feet of laboratory and office space and 30,000 square feet of retail. The project also includes the Summer Street Steps, enhancing pedestrian and bicycle connectivity between South Boston and the Seaport.

“Boston thrives on bridging communities, neighborhoods, and residents as we build a vibrant innovation economy,” said Mayor Michelle Wu. “Congratulations to WS Development on the completion of this transformational project, to help bring our communities closer together and keeps our economy growing to support all of our city’s residents.”
