1550 on the Green Eyes 2024 for LEED Platinum Delivery
Skanska recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its upcoming downtown Houston office tower, 1550 on the Green at 1550 Lamar St. Skanska executives were joined by community members and local leaders at adjacent The Grove.
Matt Damborsky, executive vice president for Skanska USA Commercial Development’s Houston market, said Skanska looks toward delivery in 2024 for the 28-story 375,000-square-foot class-A office building alongside Discovery Green.
During the ceremony, Skanska debuted never-seen 360-degree renderings of the project, which is being designed by BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group and marks the firm’s first tower project in Texas designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification. Mayor Sylvester Turner and Central Houston’s Bob Eury joined leaders from Skanska USA Commercial Development, BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group and other community partners for the ceremony.
“I thank Skanska for creating a space that will help us achieve our climate goals of building a more sustainable and resilient Houston,” said Turner. “1550 on the Green will be a great addition not just for the Downtown District, but for the city as a whole.”
