151-Acre Buy for Sports Complex Approved
The New Braunfels City Council approved a partnership with the New Braunfels Industrial Development Corp. (better known as the 4B Board), to acquire 151.4 acres that will be the future site of a sports complex. Closing on the land at Farm-to-Market 1044 and Klein Road is scheduled for March 14, 2018. Purchase of the property was approved in a 2013 bond, which allowed for up to $2.5 million to acquire the acreage.
The seller was not disclosed.
As part of the agreement, 25 acres will be donated to the city’s Parks Foundation as the seller’s legacy contribution. In exchange, the seller will end up with naming rights and an historical display.
When the sale is finalized, the city will hire a licensed professional to develop a master plan for the property, which will eventually be deeded to the 4B Board.
