147-Unit Micro-apartment Complex Planned for Austin CBD

Transwestern Development Co. is planning to build a 147-unit micro-apartment complex at 827 W. 12th St. in downtown Austin. The development will be across from Austin Community College’s campus on Rio Grande Street. Construction on the yet-to-be-named development is scheduled to start during the second half of 2020, with completion tentatively expected for mid-2022.

The average unit size will be 444 square feet, with studio, one- and two-bedroom units being offered. Shared amenities will include a swimming pool and fitness center, clubhouse, courtyard, bicycle storage area and laundry facilities. The development will also offer 3,600 square feet of retail space.

The half-acre site currently holds two office spaces, Dynamic Reprographics and 12th Street Books.
