$142M Maternity Facility Upgrade Slated in Indianapolis
Riley Children’s Health plans to create a $142 million comprehensive maternity and newborn health center in Indianapolis. All inpatient obstetric services and neonatal care offered at three downtown Indianapolis hospitals in the Indiana University Health system will be centralized at the facility.
Four floors at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, as well as the fourth floor of the Riley Outpatient Center will be renovated. The center will house inpatient services including a labor and delivery unit, a 45-bed Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit, and a postpartum unit, which will replace current spaces at IU Health Methodist Hospital.
An existing 60-bed Level 4 NICU will remain in the same place. The upgrades will make Riley Hospital home to the largest NICU in Indiana, and one of the largest in the U.S.
The project is expected to be complete in summer 2020.
