135-Year-Old Federal Hill Building to Become Mixed-Use Development
Lee & Associates is handling the leasing for Riverside, a mixed-use project in Baltimore’s Federal Hill. The redevelopment of the historic Heinze Riverside Abattoir, led by Urban Pastoral and The Wilhide Family, will cost $12 million and benefit from Historic Tax Credits. The project will feature local businesses, restaurants, and fitness studios. Stephen Wilhide, with family members, acquired the building in 1986, later taking full control to initiate its redevelopment.
“The development team has its roots in Baltimore, and cares deeply about creating a venue featuring Baltimore-area talent and creating a place for residents of the more than 1,500 new apartments contained within a quarter mile from Riverside,” stated Lee & Associates’ Glenn Ulick, who will be representing Urban Pastoral and The Wilhide Family. “With so many cookie-cutter retail projects in the marketplace, as well as uninspiring tenant mixes that merely duplicate others, we are determined to create a one-of-a-kind venue that captures the imagination of local residents and becomes a true destination.”
