$12M Building Under Consideration for UTRGV School of Medicine

The University of Texas System Board of Regents will consider a plan to build a $12.2-million classroom and office building for the University of Texas Rio Grand Valley’s (UTRGV) School of Medicine in Edinburg, TX. The regents will meet Feb. 26-27, 2018 to discuss that, and to consider acquiring a 17,422-square-foot condo building at South Jackson Road and Lindsay Boulevard. Funds for the proposed new facility will come from the Permanent University Fund (PUF).

Once approved, construction on the 21,300-square-foot building could begin as early as September 2018, with completion projected for November 2019. Within one year of completion, enrollment at the UTRGV School of medicine can be increased from 100 to 200 students. The building will be called the UT Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine Classroom and Office building.
