$127.8M Airport Parking Plaza Begins
Development of a $127.8-million parking plaza at San Diego International Airport’s Terminal 2 is set to kick off next month. The three level structure will contain roughly 3,000 parking spaces, though it only is a net gain of 1,800 over existing surface lots.
The facility will feature advanced parking technologies that show available spaces, allow advance space reservations and efficient payments. Those efficiencies are expected to result in environmental benefits as it helps reduce people’s driving and idling time looking for a spot.
The parking structure includes open light wells, glass-front elevators and public art. Completion of the parking plaza is expected in 2018.
