1,200-Unit Construction to Begin on Seattle Times Lot

Three years after paying the Seattle Times newspaper $33.5 million for its full-block parking lot near the newspaper’s office at 1000 Denny Way, Onni Group of Vancouver, B.C. will launch construction on the site in January. The plan’s first phase calls for two 41-story towers and a 12-story building, containing close to 1,200 residential units, 28,000 square feet of commercial space, and more than 1,400 underground parking stalls.

Onni also owns the Times former headquarters building, north of the parking lot, which was acquired for $29 million. That site will have two towers, totaling approximately 850 residents. The phased development will total more than 2,000 units, making it the largest market-rate project going north in downtown Seattle.
