Landstar Hotels, headquartered in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, acquired the 112-key Holiday Inn Express in downtown El Paso. The new owner, which acquired the hotel from a group of local investors, is planning to invest approximately $10 million in both the acquisition and upgrades.

Located at 409 E. Missouri Ave., the Holiday Inn Express was held for close to two decades by the former ownership, and has been on the market for more than three years. Landstar is planning to upgrade public spaces, including the pool area, as well as the guest rooms. Renovations are scheduled to begin in spring.

“We’re very interested in the growth of downtown El Paso and saw the opportunity of getting into that market,”  Landstar Hotels’ Alberto Hernandez De Santiago told the El Paso Times. “It’s a strong-performing hotel.”
