Will Funds Spur CRE Development?

The city of Sacramento has reportedly received two grants, totaling $683,000, to help fund a North Franklin Blvd. facelift that could spur commercial real estate activity along the four-mile corridor. The improvement plan is being created by the North Franklin District Business Assn., over the next 12 to 15 months.

The plan includes reducing the number of traffic lanes from four lanes to two, constructing a raised median, adding more pedestrian/bike lanes, and installing landscaping from the intersection with Sutterville Rd. to the county line.

The improvements are expected to make North Franklin Blvd. more pedestrian-friendly, and could ultimately stimulate new commercial or mixed-use residential development on vacant lots, says Marti Brown, executive director of the business district.
