1040 W. Fulton Wins 2021 Wood Design Award for Regional Excellence

The 1040 W. Fulton project team, including general contractor Summit Design + Build, was awarded the 2021 U.S. Wood Design Award for Regional Excellence by the WoodWorks-Wood Products Council. The winning project is home to Summit Design + Build’s new headquarters in the Fulton Market district.
The project was evaluated by an independent jury of design and building professionals. Juror Clare Archer, VP and senior director of Gilbane Building Company, said, “I like how the team integrated wood construction, particularly its glulam members to ‘speak’ to the historic fabric of its Fulton Market neighborhood, but in a fresh modern context.”

The Wood Design Award winners “epitomize the innovation, resilience, and flexibility required for projects to flourish in a changing world,” said Jennifer Cover, president and CEO of WoodWorks.
Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, project architect, and IMEG Corporation, structural engineer, are also part of the award-winning team for 1040 W. Fulton.
