$102M John Wayne Airport Renovation Proposed
A $102-million John Wayne Airport renovation could be in the works, if a proposal to upgrade the airport’s interior and safety features is approved by Orange County Board of Supervisors.
Airport officials have recommended Swinerton Builders to manage the overhaul, and construction could start as early as next year.
The John Wayne Airport renovation would include refurbished restrooms, new carpeting, better lighting, marble flooring, as well as earthquake retrofitting and upgraded fire-safety equipment. Funding would come from bonds, airport revenues and other sources.
About nine million passengers travel through John Wayne Airport annualy, on domestic flights as well as trips to and from Canada and Mexico.
