101-Room Hotel Development Planned for Chicago’s South Side

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the development of the nationally branded Hampton by Hilton Hotel in the city’s Pullman neighborhood.

The new $30 million, 101-room hotel will be the first-ever nationally branded hotel developed in the community and the first one built south of Hyde Park in more than 40 years. Construction is expected to start early next year.

The Pullman Hotel Group will build the hotel at 111th Street and Doty Avenue. The new 62,000-square-foot, four-story hotel along Interstate 94 and the Bishop Ford Expressway will be adjacent to the Pullman National Park’s Visitor Center, the State of Illinois Historic Site, and the 180-acre Pullman Park. The project is expected to create 25 jobs.

Plans for the hotel include a business center, exercise room, indoor pool, and on-site surface parking. The Pullman Hotel Group is using a Chicago Recovery Grant to assist with purchasing the property from the Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives.
