$100M Redevelopment Planned for Former LA Times Site

Los Angeles-based Kearny Real Estate Company has unveiled a $100-million redevelopment plan for the 24-acre, former Los Angeles Times site in Costa Mesa that it acquired in November. The former 300,000-square-foot printing facility is being transformed into a distinctive creative campus called “The Press.”

The repositioning is expected to attract larger firms, and meet the region’s creative space demands for large tenants. The Press features include:

–       A main facility featuring a steel-frame structure with soaring 50-foot clearance
–       Exterior full-height glass panels
–       Expansive grid of skylights flooding the building with natural light
–       Planned indoor/outdoor amenities: amphitheater, yoga lawn, volleyball court, BBQs and outdoor soft seating

Design work is being handled by architecture firm LPA. Leasing is being handled by Cushman & Wakefield’s Rick Kaplan and Rob Lambert.
