$100M Michigan Lifestyle Center Approved

Developer Robert B. Aikens LLC received approval on Five & Main, a proposed $100-million mixed-use retail project in Southeast Michigan’s Commerce Township. The first phase of the 55-acre open-air project would bring the next generation of retail development to the region in more than a decade.

Envisioned as an experiential center, Five & Main will feature food and entertainment in more than half of of the space. The lifestyle project will be developed with service and destination retail, residential, a dog park and nature trails to create a downtown feel. Located at Pontiac Trail and M-5, the initial phase would include 341,137 square feet of retail space.

The developer anticipates launching construction in a year, and opening in fall of 2020. Aikens plans to lease 60-70% of the retail space, including anchors, and finalize a development partner for the planned 300-unit multifamily component.
