Alta Housing Breaks Ground on Fourth Mountain View Affordable

Alta Housing recently broke ground for La Bella, a new 108‑unit affordable housing community in MountainView’s Terra Bella neighborhood. Located at 1020 Terra Bella Ave., the 1.04-acre site sits in a former industrial area that is transitioning to high‑density residential housing.

La Bella will be Alta Housing’s fourth affordable housing community in Mountain View. The project was made possible through a creative land exchange between Alta Housing and neighboring Public Storage, allowing both organizations to reconfigure their properties for redevelopment.

“Alta Housing has owned this parcel for almost a decade, and Public Storage’s willingness to exchange land with us made it possible to deliver significantly more homes at La Bella,” said Sheryl Klein, COO of Alta Housing. “This partnership reflects the collective commitment of our public, private and nonprofit partners to addressing the region’s housing needs and delivering a development that will support long‑term well‑being for MountainView residents.”
