LNG Vendor Pursuing $240M Galveston Facility

Power LNG is advancing Project Seawolf, a $240 million liquefied natural gas production and fueling facility planned for Pelican Island in Galveston. Power LNG will lease about 30 acres of port-owned property for an initial 30-year term, with options for two 10-year renewals. Power LNG is responsible for financing, permitting, constructing and operating the facility.

The project would provide fuel for cruise ships and cargo vessels operating in the Galveston, Houston and Texas City ship channels.

Power LNG plans to invest about $240 million in the initial development, which would produce 400,000 gallons of LNG daily through two liquefaction units.

Construction remains contingent on financing, regulatory permits and other development requirements.

The facility would include a 3-million-gallon storage tank, underground natural gas pipeline and pier capable of loading LNG directly onto ships and specialized bunkering vessels.

Power LNG’s development schedule anticipates equipment orders beginning in early 2027, with commercial production targeted for the fourth quarter of 2028.
