Yamaha Divests U.S. Headquarters in Sale-Leaseback

Avison Young arranged the sale of the former U.S. headquarters campus of Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., located at 6555 Katella Ave. in Cypress. LA Business First identified the buyer as The Walt Disney Co., which paid $115 million and will use the property for back-office operations. Yamaha will lease back the property, its U.S. headquarters since 1979, through Dec. 31, 2028 as part of a planned relocation to Kennesaw, GA.

The Avison Young team of Patrick Barnes, Paul Clark, Nick Slonek, and Jae Estep represented Yamaha. Avison Young’s Jeff Estep, managing principal occupier services, served as the program manager.

The +/-25-acre infill industrial-zoned property includes three buildings — one industrial, one flex and one office — totaling approximately 278,964 square feet. “This is a transformational moment for both Yamaha and the City of Cypress,” said Barnes. “The acquisition underscores the caliber of this asset and the strength of the local market.”
