Denver Arena Owner Planning Improvements, Mixed-Use Venture

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) has committed to spending $135 million to renovate Ball Arena, the home arena for the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche. In addition, KSE has unveiled plans for a mixed-use project using some of the outdoor parking lots as building space.

The Denver Business Journal reports the upgrades include a large glass façade, new escalators, a new team shop, a widening of arena concourses to decrease congestion, new point-of-sale technology and three new club spaces, including one that with access to 100-level seating. 

Plans also call for a 721-foot-long plaza and outdoor gathering area in the southeast area. KSE will use Perkins&Will as the project’s architect.

It has also planned upgrades to its teams’ practice facilities, installing a 1,100-square-foot observation platform above the Nuggets’ practice court.

KSE plans to redevelop dozens of acres of parking lots around Ball Arena. The company envisions turning the lots into a new neighborhood with office space, residential units, a performance venue and a hotel,.
