Scheels Building 300K-SF Littleton Store, Town Okays Tax Breaks

SCHEELS announced this week that it is building a 300,000-square-foot store in Littleton. The store is planned as an anchor retailer alongside Costco at the new Mineral Place development.

The flagship sporting goods store spans over 80 specialty shops under one roof, including golf, baseball and softball, archery, bicycles, ski equipment and fishing gear. And yes, a 60-foot Ferris wheel, as well.

Concurrently, Littleton officials approved a 30-year tax incentive deal that will ease the property tax burden of the massive retailer. As part of the approved deal, Scheels would receive a 54.67% sales tax refund over that period. Littleton would retain 40% of the sales tax collected. In return for the incentives, Scheels must agree to obtain its certificate of occupancy within four years. The company plans to hire 500 workers.

Construction is anticipated to start in the first quarter of 2027 with an opening anticipated in the spring of 2029.
