Friedman’s Restaurant Expands with Upper West Side Location

Lee & Associates NYC announced that the ownership group behind Friedman’s Restaurant, Pastrami Queen and many other successful restaurant concepts has acquired an approximately 5,000-square-foot retail cooperative unit at 541-555 Amsterdam Ave. on Manhattan’s Upper West Side for $4.135 million.

Peter Braus, president of Lee NYC, represented the buyer, Mountain View Acquisition LLC.  The seller, 176 West 87th Leasehold LLC, a family LLC, was represented by Brandon Polakoff and his team at Avison Young.  Joshua Stein acted as the seller’s representative and counsel.

The property is currently home to Barney Greengrass, the longtime Upper West Side restaurant and appetizing shop, and Hudson & Charles, a neighborhood butcher shop.  Both businesses will remain in place following the sale.

The new owners will occupy an existing vacant restaurant space at the property, where they plan to open a new Friedman’s Restaurant location tailored to appeal to the Upper West Side neighborhood.

“The Group is expanding its footprint in a top location on the Upper West Side, while also keeping a New York institution intact and operating for years to come,” said Braus.
