Fidelity to Move HQ to Boston’s Commonwealth Pier

Fidelity will relocate its official headquarters to South Boston’s Commonwealth Pier as the financial services behemoth preps to return its employees to the office full-time. A Fidelity spokesperson told the Boston Business Journal that the company plans to file regulatory paperwork to name the building in the Seaport neighborhood as its new headquarters but could not specify the timeline.

The company’s real estate arm, Pembroke Real Estate, led the overall development that aimed to transform and revitalize the building and pier at Seaport World Trade Center, with Fidelity overseeing the design of the new 735,000-square-foot office space. Plans for the project were released in early 2019. Fidelity reportedly intends to keep the nearby office building at 245 Summer St. that has served as its headquarters since 2012.

Fidelity, which has some $7.8 trillion in assets under management, plans to increase hiring in Boston and elsewhere. The company said in April that nearly all of its Boston employees and those in three other states would be returning to the office five days a week in September.
