EYA, Armed Forces Mutual Secure Entitlement for MF Project at Historic Reston Site

EYA and Armed Forces Mutual have secured entitlement for the redevelopment of Armed Forces Mutual’s Reston Campus at 1850 Old Reston Avenue into a 57-townhome community centered around the historic Bowman House.

The milestone marks a significant step toward transforming the underutilized office campus into a residential neighborhood. Located adjacent to the W&OD Trail and just a five-minute walk from Reston Town Center, the community will feature 57 fee-simple townhomes, including seven affordable dwelling units. The homes will offer a range of floor plans with rooftop terraces while thoughtfully integrating the site’s historic assets, including the Bowman House and its iconic gazebo.

The Bowman House will be preserved through adaptive reuse and positioned for conversion into a single-family residence, with office use retained as an alternative future option. Groundbreaking is anticipated in spring 2027, with sales expected to begin in fall 2027.
