Proposed Energy, Digital Infrastructure Project in Pennsylvania Advances

Salem 3, a proposed energy and digital infrastructure project in Northeastern Pennsylvania, has continued to advance through the approvals process.

The project cleared another hurdle with the Salem Township Planning Commission voting unanimously to recommend an expansion of the township’s existing data center overlay district. For over 200 landowners, the recommendation means they can continue to pursue a potential $1.4 billion land sale involving more than 4,000 acres of working and retired farms, family homesteads and other properties.

Approximately 3,000 of the acres involved in the deal will be set aside and remain as natural buffers, green space, and setbacks. Salem 3 would pair existing energy infrastructure with a new generation of data center and related digital infrastructure investment. The project would also require significant privately funded power generation and infrastructure improvements.
