Data Center Operator Pursuing $500M San Antonio-Area Facility
CyrusOne is pursuing the construction of a 460,000-square-foot data center in Medina County. The project is estimated to cost $500 million.
The facility is at 3397 U.S. Highway 90 W., just west of San Antonio The project, identified as “SAT14A,” has an estimated completion date of June 2027.
The data center operator purchased roughly 57 acres off Highway 90 approximately seven miles from downtown Castroville in January.
CyrusOne operates data center campuses in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston. In San Antonio, its footprint includes the SAT1, SAT2-SAT4 and SAT5-SAT6 campuses on the city’s West Side, according to the company’s website.
The San Antonio Business Journal reports that industry experts say the area’s available land and access to power have made it increasingly attractive to data center developers.
