Greenberg Gibbons Closes on Frederick Brickworks Property, Plans $450M Mixed-Use Development

Greenberg Gibbons has closed on the Frederick Brickworks property and will begin construction on a $450 million, 65-acre mixed-use destination in Frederick, Maryland, on the former brick manufacturing site.

“Closing on the Frederick Brickworks property marks a pivotal milestone in bringing to life our vision that has been more than seven years in the making,” said Eric Walter, president of Greenberg Gibbons. “We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the community and local officials to deliver a dynamic, mixed-use destination everyone can be proud of.”

Frederick Brickworks will include up to 100,000 square feet of retail space anchored by an organic grocer and a new-to-market fitness studio. The retail portion of the mixed-use destination is already 50% leased and will feature a mix of retail stores and fast-casual restaurants. It will also include up to 700 apartments and 320 for-sale townhomes built by Wormald and NVR, Inc.

Frederick Brickworks will generate significant economic benefits, supporting approximately 5,600 jobs, including 1,300 permanent positions and 4,300 construction jobs, and an estimated $181 million in annual business sales.
