Long-Delayed Candlestick Point Development Advances with Board of Supervisors Approval
Twelve years after Candlestick Park was demolished and the San Francisco 49ers relocated to Santa Clara, developer FivePoint is set to begin work on the long-delayed Candlestick Point mixed-use project. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the San Francisco County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to approve the final map for the project.
The first order of business will be launching construction on the streets, sidewalks and utilities for the first phase of development, which will include about 675 homes. At full buildout, the projected will encompass about 7,200 homes, 300 acres of open space and two million square feet of commercial space.
‘We’re seeing a clear surge in market momentum, with demand for both residential and commercial space accelerating across the city,” FivePoint SVP Suheil Totah told the Chronicle. “San Francisco is having a moment and Candlestick Point is poised to be a major part of what comes next.”
