UW Tacoma Selects Developer for $115M Student Housing Expansion

The University of Washington has selected Maslow’s Campus Communities as the development partner for UW Tacoma’s $115 million student housing and dining expansion development project.

The project team also includes West Coast-based architectural firm SERA Architects and Pacific Northwest general contractor Walsh Construction Co. The team’s selection is subject to approval by the UW Board of Regents. “Our student housing and dining development project is a big step forward for our campus, and we are excited to work with Maslow’s Campus Communities to make this a reality for our students and our community,” said UW Tacoma Chancellor Sheila Edwards Lange.

Planned as a public-private partnership and scheduled to open in late 2029, the project will add housing for nearly 500 additional students and include UW Tacoma’s first traditional dining hall. Developed in partnership with design firm Bjarke Ingels Group, the plan supports UW Tacoma’s long-term goal of increasing its total enrollment to 10,000 students while expanding its physical footprint in downtown Tacoma.
