Asana Starts Transformation of Former Duke Energy HQ

Asana Partners, MRP Realty and Rockefeller Group completed the necessary demolition of the former Duke Energy facility. Headquarters at 526 S. Church St. and are now ready to start work on its conversion to multifamily and retail uses.

MRP acquired the 800,000-square-foot for $35 million in 2022.

The Charlotte Business Journal reports the finished project, to be called Brooklyn & Church, will include 448 apartment units and 25,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. The development will also have a newly constructed, three-story, 30,000-square-foot retail building along South Church Street.  Brooklyn & Church is expected to deliver in late 2027.

The project, along with numerous adaptive reuse projects in the Charlotte area, will reduce the area’s office space by over two million square feet.

Other projects include converting the Johnson Building into a hotel, converting two former Wells Fargo buildings into apartments and a hotel, and repurposing 400 South Tryon from office to a hotel and apartments.
